The Business of Love

It’s only fitting that we post this on Valentines day, after all it’s a day of love and romance that knows no bounds. But love is not just about one day a year, and love isn’t always roses and chocolates and teddy bears.  At Renee’s Bridal, love is celebrated on the daily where we get to witness moments of joy when the bride-to-be is surrounded by their entourage and says “YES” to the dress, but what is it really like to be in the business of love?

We have the privilege to meet hundreds of brides every year. We get to know them like a friend and we get to learn about how they’ve found the one who makes their heart beat faster and slower all at the same time- truthfully one of my favorite things about my job- and what an amazing story each couple has!  Love is different for everyone and ranges from long distance relationships, courtships that seem to last an eternity, break-ups, make-ups, and a whole long list of hardships that I sometimes can’t even imagine couples face. These conversations 1) make me realize how crazy the power of love can be 2) how lucky we are when we find “the one”…..and I’m not talking about the dress….

So what’s the point to all of this? If we’re lucky enough, we can find an equal that even when we’re at our worst, they can still bring out the best in you.  After the sounds of wedding bells have faded and the allure of the honeymoon is gone, you’re together till death do you part and it’s about the other 364 days of the year to keep your love alive, not just February 14.  You don’t always have to like each other, and in fact, I say it’s 100% ok to have some time to yourself to recharge from life itself, BUT in the end it comes down to this- it’s the two of you against the world and it’s up to you to make it work.  In closing, someone has already said it better and it couldn’t be more true…. Thanks Dr. Seuss

“We’re all a little weird, and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is comparable to our, we join up with them and fall into mutual weirdness and call it Love.” Dr. Seuss

Happy Valentines Day lovelies, keep the love alive ♥
